Terms of Service

To use CatChat, you must:

• Be at least 15 years of age
• Provide accurate information during registration
• Not have been previously banned from CatChat

Users under 18 may use CatChat with parental or guardian awareness. By creating an account, you confirm you meet these requirements.

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You must not share your account with others or create multiple accounts
• If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at catchatsocial@proton.me

CatChat is a free community platform that connects cat owners with cat sitters through proximity-based matching. CatChat is not an employment agency, pet care business, or professional service provider.

Important: All arrangements between cat owners and cat sitters are made directly between users. CatChat does not vet, supervise, insure, or guarantee any sitting arrangement. You use CatChat at your own risk and discretion.

By using CatChat, you agree to:

• Treat all users and their cats with respect and kindness
• Keep conversations appropriate — no hate speech, harassment, threats, or explicit content
• Not use CatChat for commercial purposes, advertising, or spam
• Not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
• Not upload harmful, misleading, or illegal content
• Comply with all applicable laws, including the Swedish Animal Welfare Act (2018:1192) when providing cat care in Sweden

Violation of these guidelines may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from CatChat without notice.

If you agree to sit for someone's cat, you accept responsibility for providing proper care during the agreed period. This includes:

• Following the owner's care instructions (feeding, medication, routine)
• Keeping the cat safe and comfortable
• Communicating promptly with the owner if any issues arise
• Never leaving a cat unattended for more than 24 hours (as required by Swedish law)

Cat owners are responsible for providing accurate care instructions, disclosing any health conditions, and ensuring their cat is safe for a sitter to handle.

• You retain ownership of photos, text, and other content you post on CatChat
• By posting content, you grant CatChat a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it within the app for the purpose of providing the service
• You must only upload content you have the right to share
• We may remove content that violates these Terms or our community guidelines

CatChat is provided free of charge. As part of the free service, you consent to the display of in-app content recommendations, curated suggestions, and advertisements (“Promotional Content”).

• All Promotional Content is cat-related and vetted by our team
• Promotional Content does not rely on behavioural tracking or profiling
• Users who prefer an ad-free experience may opt for a premium subscription when available

CatChat is a free, community-driven platform. There are no mandatory fees or payments between users. Any thank-you gifts or tokens of appreciation between cat owners and sitters are entirely voluntary, private, and arranged directly between the parties. CatChat does not facilitate, process, or take any commission on such exchanges.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• CatChat is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of CatChat, including but not limited to: harm to animals, property damage, personal injury, or loss of data
• We are not responsible for the actions, omissions, or conduct of any user
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of user profiles, qualifications, or any information shared on the platform

• You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account
• We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
• Upon deletion, your profile, cats, matches, and messages will be permanently removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available at /terms. If significant changes occur, we will notify you by email or in-app notification. Continued use of CatChat after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Swedish courts.
